I recently purchased a new smoothie maker as my old one gave up and was becoming a nightmare to clear after use. As you can see I went for the Kenwood Smoothie 2Go, it had had good reviews and the contains were large mugs which I thought would save lots of time with washing up as you made it in the same thing you drank it from. It does come with flip lids for on the go drinking. I’ll be looking to post several new smoothie ideas as the weather gets nicer, I welcome any other ideas people may have or recipes they’ve tried.
Banana & Blueberry Smoothie
Preparation to Pallet: 1 Minute
Serves 1-2
Keep refrigerated if not consuming straight away
Ingredients:
1-2 Ripe/Unripe Bananas, chopped
Handful of Fresh Blueberries
4-5 Ice Cubes
Sprinkle of Cinnamon, to taste
Recipe:
Add the ice cubes first followed by the chopped banana. Add the blueberries and add a dash of cinnamon. Blitz as per instructions for smoothie machine (mine is 10 seconds).
As an addition you can add 100mL of Coconut Milk or Full Fat Milk (depending on your views on dairy in paleo) to turn it into a lovely fruity milkshake. Perfect to have on the go or on your way to work. The ice will keep it cool for a good hour or so (outside temperature dependent) though you may need to give it a mix up if you haven’t touched it in a while as some of the blueberry goodness tends to settle at the bottom.
Time Saving Tip:
I tip I picked up from Nigella Lawson, is to freeze your chopped banana in a bag; this way you don’t need to add ice cubes to the mixture as there is already ‘ice’ within the banana and it’ll still keep it cold and smooth.
